Required funding

In addition to tuition fees, applicants from countries outside EU/EEA must provide proof of funding. Applicants must be able to sustain themselves while studying in Norway in order to obtain a study permit. 

Upload proof of funds for living expenses when submitting your application. The required amount documents your financial ability, which is necessary for applying for a study permit. 

Who must document financial ability?

  • International applicants (citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA) who do not already have a residence permit in Norway, must document proof of financial ability.
  • Foreign applicants residing in Norway on work visa, Protection (Refugee Status), Permanent Residency or long-term Marriage/Family visa: please upload a copy of your Residence Permit as proof of financial ability.
  • Norwegian citizens: you are exempted from documenting proof of financial ability. Please upload a copy of your Norwegian passport as proof of citizenship

The amount you must provide is currently NOK 151 690  for one academic year (subject to change).

We only accept the following documentation:

  • An original bank statement in your name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official). The statement must have been issued within the last 3 months. 
  • A confirmation letter from your sponsor and an original bank statement in your sponsor's name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official). The confirmation letter and bank statement must have been issued within the last 3 months.  

Payslips will not be accepted as proof of funding.
