Exchange brings new skills and competencies

The prospect for research activities at a high international level brought PhD student Katarina Bobikova from Košice in Slovakia to University of Nordland.

Katarina Bobikova is here on exchange from The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Slovakia. In her last year as a PhD student, she is spending three months at the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture (FBA).

- My main personal ambition is to broaden my scientific knowledge and increase my research activities, not only at the scientific level of my home institution, but also at a higher international level. New skills and competencies acquired during this scholarship will help me to make further progress in my PhD study. It is an opportunity for me to obtain new knowledge in the field of Biosciences and Aquaculture, in detection of pathogens and infectious agents in fish.

My study programme here in Bodø contains three courses which all are new to me:  Molecular Cell Biology, Aquaculture Nutrition and Aquaculture Practice and Principles. UIN has an interesting range of study programmes, modern facilities and high professionality. In addition, the international environment at the faculty gives me a good chance to improve my English.

Although Bodø is a small town, there are so many great places to see. I like running, and that has taken me many different places in Bodø. Nature here is so beautiful. Last night I was out watching the Northern Lights - that was fantastic!
