Om forelesningen: The Profession of Boundaries
In her work, Vannebo has sought to bridge insights from various fields in Sociology. In this lecture Vannebo will present ideas generated through various research projects she has been involved with which highlight the importance of bringing insights from various fields to the study of boundary work among professionals. She will present the different mechanisms involved in boundary work, various strategies of boundary work found among professionals, and efforts to resist the reification and solidification of boundaries in professional collaborations. Boundary work not only involves struggles over jurisdictional boundaries, but also negotiations over how to define and represent policy problems as well as negotiations over who owns a policy problem. In the lecture Vannebo will discuss how different interpretations of shared policy goals instigate boundary work amongst welfare service professionals, and examine how policy goals effectively function as boundary objects, allowing professionals to negotiate and redefine professional boundaries and domains of expertise.
