From childhood to adulthood: Navigating the transition in Mental Health Services. A National health registry study.
Kort beskrivelse av prosjektet
Early adulthood is a developmental stage in which mental health problems commonly emerge, coinciding with critical decisions related to education, work, relationships, and the establishment of long-term behavioral patterns. The transition from adolescence to young adulthood involves substantial changes in individual functioning and autonomy, as well as shifts in responsibility within the healthcare system. Despite the importance of this period, relatively little is known about how adolescents and young adults engage with mental health services as they navigate this transition.
Using nationwide Norwegian registry data, this thesis aims to describe patterns of health care utilization among young people, with particular emphasis on those moving between child and adolescent mental health services and adult mental health services. A further objective is to investigate how this service transition influences individuals’ subsequent trajectories, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of mental health care needs during this critical life stage.
