Written on-site examinations

A written, on-site examination is a supervised, individual examination on university premises. The examination may be held digitally, using Inspera, or with pen and paper.

​​​​​​​Key information and identification

  • The examination location is normally the same as the study location.

  • Information about examination dates, examination locations, candidate numbers and which examination tool is to be used can be found in StudentWeb.

  • Valid proof of identity must be presented at the examination premises. Any proof of identity on a mobile phone is not valid.

  • External candidates must present valid proof of identity and a receipt for payment of the semester fee.

​Digital written examinations with Inspera


You must provide your own PC or Mac with administrator rights, cf. Section 8-2 of the Regulations relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord University. Chromebooks cannot be used.

  • Log into Inspera via nord.inspera.no with your FEIDE user. Check that you have a valid password for your student account

  • The latest version of the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) must be installed via demo test at nord.inspera.no, no earlier than one month before and no later than 2 days before the examination.

  • Test whether your PC or Mac is ready for the examination by conducting a demo test. To ensure a proper connection to Eduroam, connect to the wireless network ​at your place of study.

Note: You will not be allowed additional time for an examination if you arrive late or have not installed the latest version of SEB (Safe Exam Browser).

Taking the examination

  • Meet at the specified location at least 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start.
  • Log into Inspera with Feide at http://nord.inspera.no.
  • Click the "Click here to get ready" button for the relevant examination.
  • Select "Open the test in the Safe Exam Browser" (SEB).
  • Enter the password. You will receive the password from the exam invigilator before the examination.
  • The examination is now in progress and the questions will be answered in the text editor below the questions.
    Familiarise yourself with the text editor on Inspera's website.
  • Your answer will be stored automatically and continuously in the system.
  • If the network connection fails during the examination, the exam invigilator must be contacted.
  • When submitting, you will confirm that your answer is being submitted. Submission must take place before the time is up.
  • If you wish to submit your answer before the time is up, please notify the exam invigilator.
  • Upon completion of the examination, you will find your examination answer in Inspera under the Archive tab.
