The bachelor programme in economy and management focuses on business economy, administration, public economy, methodology as well as other topics. This is a full-time campus-based programme with regular lectures. All courses have their own online learning platforms. Learning and work forms will be based on research and praxis-orientation. This varies from course to course and is provided a.o. in the form of lectures, company visits, study groups, coursework submissions and practical exercises. We often facilitate teamwork that enhances communication training and cooperation. There is natural progression in the different courses throughout the programme, and each semester builds on knowledge acquired in the previous semester. It is therefore generally required that the students pass all courses before moving on to the next study year. In order to commence the third year of study, the first year of study as well as at least 30 ECTS credits from the second year of study must be passed. Specific recommendations and conditions about pre-existing knowledge are described in the individual course descriptions. This programme aims to attract persons who want a broad and versatile education in economy and management, a degree that also qualifies candidates to apply for admission to master programmes in Norway as well as abroad. The first year of study provides the candidates with an understanding of markets and organisations, and also develops their ability to reflect on basic issues and values. Courses in mathematics, statistics, business economic analysis and financial accounting as well as law are also included. The first year of the programme is a joint year for students on bachelor programmes in accounting, real estate and a one-year diploma programme in economy and management. The second study year provides specialisation in public economy, strategy and management topics, as well as business economic courses in financial reporting and analysis, valuation, cost accounting and budgeting, finance and investment. Students may also opt for an elective course. The third year of study provides the candidate with specialisation in public economy and finance, in addition to a course in applied research methods. During the 5th semester, students will have the opportunity to specialise in one of their selected profiles. The bachelor thesis is written on a theme within the profile the student has selected. The final semester also allows students to opt for an elective course. The elective courses on offer as electives (2nd and 3rd year of study) and profile (3rd year of study) may differ and also vary between our campuses from one year to the next. Students on this programme are expected to possess a computer or tablet that allows use of relevant software.
