The semester package consists of elective courses, each of 10 ECTS:

  • Evolutionary Behavioral Ecology
  • Molecular Ecology
  • Ecology II
  • Zoophysiology

Career possibilities

Upon completion of the semester package you will have gained knowledge in marine biology and ecology with specialisation in the high-north.

Further education

The semester package credits 30 ETCS and can generally be acknowledged as one semester of undergraduate education at universities. The courses offered in the semester package can generally be related to undergraduate programmes within ecology or marine biology depending on the overall course composition.

Upon transfer to our Bachelor of Science in Biology and graduation in the programme, students are qualified for the following studies at Nord University:

Master in Biosciences.


Semester registration fee and syllabus litterature. No tuition fee.

For BI206F Marine Biology, costs for compulsory field work will apply. Maximum NOK 3000.

Examination regulations, assessment and grading

The Norwegian system for grading and assessment using the letter grades A - F, in which A denotes the best/highest grade and F denotes "not passed". Work can also be assessed as "passed", "not passed", "approved" and "not approved".

Assessment methods

Assessment consists of school exams, portfolio assessment, practical and oral examination.

Programme evaluation

Students take an active part in the evaluation of the courses in the programme through mid-term and final evaluation. Dialogue meetings are also conducted between students and the programme director every semester.
