Anne Marit Valle
Anne Marit Valle is a professor of Special Needs Education at Nord University. She serves as the PhD Program Coordinator, representing the Faculty of Education and Arts in the Interdisciplinary PhD program, Science of Professions. This practice-oriented program emphasises current, socially relevant issues, placing professional practice and the field of practice at its core. The program aims to equip PhD students with extensive knowledge of the scientific theories, methods, and tools that underpin scientific work.
She has experience from teaching at the PhD level, within the master's in Inclusive Education and Special Needs Education, as supervisor and course leader. She has experience from management of programs for professor qualification, doctoral programs and research schools.
She is a member of the national professional body for PhD education (UHR-Teacher Education), boardmember of the national network for supervisor training at the PhD level, member of the advisory board for Dyslexia Norway, the international network Pedagogy, Education, Praxis (PEP), and the editorial board for the Nordic Journal of Education and Practice.
Anne Marit's academic interests include special needs education, inclusive education, classroom interactions, peer learning and professional learning, intercultural competence, and the professional development of PhD supervisors.

Special needs education and speech therapy research
The special needs education and speech therapy research group is a research community with a particular focus on various subjects within the fields of pedagogy, special needs education, speech therapy and linguistics. It aims to strengthen and develop individual and institutional expertise. The main objective of the group’s research efforts is to contribute to the development of practical and research-based knowledge that can help to create an inclusive society, and facilitate good learning and upbringing conditions for children, young people and adults with special needs.
Learning in interaction in diverse settings
The group studies learning in interaction in and outside of the school to develop existing expertise on the field. The group is interdisciplinary with an interest in learning as a social phenomenon. The group focuses on developing existing expertise in the field of classroom research and research on learning in interaction. The group is focused on research that studies interaction and social practice using video (combined with interviews or other ethnographic methods where it is natural).
The research group PEPiNord | Nord.no
PEPiNord is part of the international research network Pedagogy, Education and Praxis (PEP), and represents the Norwegian branch of this network (NOR-PEP). The research group's thematic focus is on the core concepts of pedagogy, education and practice. The international network is a cross-institutional collaborative research programme that unites researchers from Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The researchers investigate the traditions and conditions of pedagogy, education and practice, and how they are understood, developed and maintained in different national contexts and educational environments.
