June 2021 kl. 15:00 Main bodyFriday 25th of June 2021, Nord University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in Ukraine did a digital signing of a framework cooperation agreement for join supervision of PhD candidates.Many projectsThe cooperation between Ukraine and Nord university goes all the way back to 2003 when the program for retraining of military personnel returning to civilian life started. This is a program that has been expanded and the model that has been developed within this program will now be used as a standard with the public administration of Ukraine.The cooperation between Nord university and Ukraine was reinforced by the following projects, which have taken place or are currently running:Retraining and social adaption of military officers/veterans and their family members (2003 – 2022)Norwegian – Ukrainian education and research cooperation in the field of sustainable management, Tavrida National University (Crimea) (2011 – 2014)Norwegian – Ukranian Public Sector Economy Education (NUPSEE), CPEA-2005/10005 (2016 – 2019) – Master of Science/Double DegreeInternal Control and the COSO framework: Application to the university sector in Ukraine CPEA-ST/1022 (2018 – 2019) – E-course for practiceNorwegian – Ukrainian cooperation in a field of Public sector accounting, budgeting and finance – Research Education (NUPRE) – CPEA-LT-2017/10004 (2018 – 2022)NUPSEE project has led to an increasing output of research and several Master thesis publications as a part of the double degree established in Bodø and Kyiv. International CenterIn addition to this, the Ukrainian – Norwegian Center for International Education and Research in the Area of Public Sector Economy and Finance was established on May 23rd 2019. The center is a link between academia and practice in the field of public sector economy with focus on accounting, budgeting and finance. It actively involves relevant university members into its activities. The goal has also been to contribute to the harmonization of international education on a Master, as well as on a PhD level. The original framework agreement on joint supervision of PhD candidates between Nord University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv was about to run out in June of this year. Today’s ceremony was therefore to renew this agreement, as well as sign coutelle-agreements for two PhD students. The term "cotutelle" originates from France and has the meaning of "co-tutoring". Generally, cotutelle is structured as an individual agreement on joint supervision on the doctoral degree level signed by two cooperating institutions, the PhD candidate, and the candidate's supervisors. The cotutelle agreement regulates enrolment, supervision, and evaluation of the candidate's doctoral degree dissertation. In the end, the candidate receives diplomas from both partner institutions.Signing via ZoomThe Director of the High North Center, Frode Mellemvik was the moderator for today’s signing ceremony, and he welcomed everybody to what he described as the first digital signing of an agreement that he had ever participated in. Signed: Rector Volodymyr Bugrov of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv holds up the signed agreement. The rectors of both universities held short speeches where they emphasized the importance of such agreements like this one. They expressed flattering words about the pearter university.Professor at Nord University Business School, Anatoli Bourmistrov held a presentation on the history of cooperation between Nord University and the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.Finally, the agreements were signed by both rectors. Hanne Solheim Hansen at Nord university signed her copy in Steinkjer office, while Volodymyr Bugrov signed in an auditorium in Kyiv, surrounded by many of his colleagues.
