About cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you download a website. Some cookies are essential in order for the website to function properly, while others fulfil non-essential functions such as analytics and marketing purposes.

Storage and processing of data collected by use of cookies is not permitted without the informed consent of the user. The user must be informed about which data are collected, the purpose of collection and processing, and who processes the data, cf. Electronic Communications Act section 2, sub-section 7b.

You can provide or withdraw your consent to our use of cookies at any time by changing the settings in your web browser.

Read more about each of these purposes below.

User analytics and site optimalisation

Nord University collects anonymised data about visitors to nord.no. The purpose of data collection is to generate statistics that we use to improve and further develop information on the website. Statistics can tell us more about how many users visit different pages, the length of users' visits, which websites users come from, and which web browser users have.

These data are processed in anonymised and aggregated form. With anonymised we mean that we can not trace the data we collect back to individual users. We collect the entire IP address, but the IP address is anonymised so that only the first three groups of the entire IP number are used to generate statistics. In addition, IP addresses are processed at an aggregated level, meaning that the data are combined into groups and not processed at any individual level.

Nord University uses SiteImprove and Google Analytics for analytics on our websites.

We use the following cookies on nord.no and blogg.nord.no in connection with analytics and site optimalisation:

- Analytics tool SiteImprove (_cfduid, nmstat) places two cookies on your computer in order to help us generate statistics. These cookies are removed after 1 year.
- Analytics tool Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat) places three cookies on your computer in order to help us generate statistics and in order to optimise the website's response rate.

Personlised marketing

Nord University uses cookies as part of its marketing strategy. Cookies help make the marketing of programmes of study, lectures, seminars, etc. more tailored and relevant to the user.
With your consent, Nord University would like to show you customised ads on other websites that you visit. We do this by using Google Tag Manager. This tool allows us to show you ads about current study programme offerings, seminars, lectures, etc. that we think may be of interest to you as a user of the university's websites.

We need your consent in order to use your information for personalised marketing. You may revoke or withdraw your consent at any time by changing the settings in your browser.

The following cookies are used on nord.no and blogg.nord.no for personalised marketing purposes.

Google remarketing and Google Ads
Nord University uses remarketing from Google Ads to get in touch with people who have previously interacted with the nord.no website. This means that past visitors can receive relevant ads from Nord University on other websites. By using the website nord.no you agree that Google processes information about you. You can customise your Google ad settings yourself

Adform
Nord University uses Adform to measure the impact of our ads so that we can deliver more relevant ads. Adform uses cookies so that we can target our ads to selected audiences, control the frequency of ads by activity, see the behaviour of our users towards the advertising, and gather information about interest to create more relevant ads for our users. Adform does not store any personal information and the data is anonymised.

Google Tag Manager and AdWords (_gac) places a cookie on your computer to provide campaign-related information. The cookie is deleted after 90 days.
