Steinkjer has a lot of cultural and natural attractions to offer.
The annual Steinkjer Festival in June is the biggest attraction. The whole city turns into a sea of people, with stages and artists around every corner. And in our cultural pub Vårt hjem, you can experience a warm atmosphere and good entertainment all year round.
In the fall of 2023, the city will have a brand new and modern cultural center with a cinema, library, and restaurant. Steinkjer can also tempt you with one of Trøndelag's largest shopping malls.
You will also find many unique hiking and nature experiences here. You can enjoy a panoramic view over the entire city at Oftenåsen from the world's largest garden chair. Or you can take a day trip to Norway's geographical center.
As a student at Nord University in Steinkjer, you will be part of an active student environment with around 700 students. It is easy to thrive both academically and socially and you will experience a special closeness to both fellow students, teachers, and businesses.
At Innocamp Steinkjer, you as a student will share premises with many organizations and businesses, something that will expand your network and provide you with valuable contacts.
Here you will also find a rich selection of student teams and organisations. Steinkjer also has an exotic city beach, only a stone's throw away from the study hall. You will have many hiking opportunities in close proximity both in summer and in winter. If quizzes, pubs, concerts, and festivals are your type of activities, you will also find that here.
Once you have landed at Trondheim Airport Værnes, you can take the train to Steinkjer station. The train ride is approximately 90 minutes.
You may also arrive by train or bus from Oslo; then your first destination will be Trondheim S (central station). From Trondheim S you go on to Steinkjer station by train. View train times and fares on VY.no.
