About me

In a nutshell, I am using molecular and genomic tools to study muscle growth and the innate immune system in teleosts.

My main research interests are domestication, antimicrobial peptides, microRNAs and the epigenetic regulation of gene networks by environmental factors. I focus on commercially important species such as Nile tilapia, Atlantic cod, Atlantic halibut, Atlantic salmon and Senegalese sole but I also use zebrafish as a convenient model species.

You can find more information about my projects and publications at my personal page

Teaching

  • I have been the coordinator of the MSc level course 'Aquatic Genomics and Bioinformatics' (BI311F) at Nord since 2008.
  • In addition to mentoring 17 post-doctoral fellows and visiting research associates, I have been involved in supervision of 27 PhD theses (11 as main supervisor), 16 MSc theses (9 as main supervisor) and 10 BSc theses (main supervisor).
