Has worked as an ECEC teacher and head teacher for more than 20 years before starting to teach pedagogy at the Kindergarten teacher education and starting on the PhD study.
Competence/reserach areas:
Different perspectives on quality in early childhood education and care, particular staff-child intercations, staffs thinking and behaviour, and professional development.
Teaching:
Supervising Bachelor students.
Participation in reaserach projects:
Better Provision for Norways Children in Early Childhood Education and Care. A large-scale study led by Oslo Metropolitan University in collaboration with the University of South-Eastern Norway, University of Stavanger and Nord University, and with internationally partners from University of Oxford, Birkbeck University of London and University of Utrecht. The BePro is the first major project in Norway where researchers focus on quality and effectiveness of early childhood education and care.
, Germany, in cooperation with study groups in 13 countries and the study group in Norway is led by Nord University. The study focuses on whether it is possible to develop a joint understanding of quality criteria in early childhood education and care. ECEC teachers and students as well as parents participate in the study, which is a survey regarding quality in early childhood education and care.
