I have a PhD in aquaculture from 2011, and the first candidate to dissertate within the new PhD program at the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture, Nord University. The focus of my thesis was on flesh quality, growth characteristics and sustainability of farmed Atlantic salmon, with particular reference to feed composition, feeding regimes, smolt types, environment, endocrinology, and muscle cellularity. After the dissertation, I continued as a senior engineer at the same institution with focus on seafood quality and aquaculture research. Currently, I work as an associated professor in aquaculture with engagement for both teaching and research. From 2021 I have been the head of study programme for Bachelor in aquaculture management.

Head of study programme for Bachelor in aquaculture management and for the one year lifelong learning programme in Aquaculture operations. Course coordinator and lecturer for the 15 ects bachelor course "Production of salmonids" and for the 10 ects "Production Biology" connected to both Lifelong learning and decentralised studies at Campus Stokmarknes. Other teaching includes topics like sustainability, biological production planning, fish biology, physiology, nutrition, feeding and aquaculture technology. Have supervised more than 40 Bachelor and 5 Master students.

To develop feed, technology and rearing practices that can contribute to a more efficient and sustainable aquaculture industry, with optimised product quality. Both basic and indistry related researh are of high interest.
