Working title: Recovery narratives in youth mental health: a qualitative study of lived experience and co-created ideas for digital support

Short description of the PhD project: As youth mental health needs continue to rise, more flexible and accessible form of support are urgently needed. This PhD is part of the Neon Young Norway and explores how young people (16–30) understand and use recovery narratives in their mental health journeys, and how such narratives can be included in co‑created, youth‑centered digital support.

Using a participatory qualitative design, the project includes semi‑structured interviews with young people and four future technology workshops with youth and adult stakeholders. Grounded in hermeneutic phenomenology, tentative results show that young people engage with recovery narratives in emotionally complex ways. Workshop participants emphasised the need for trustworthy, low‑threshold digital support combining real stories, access to professionals, and engaging formats.
