Demanding a [Just and Sustainable] Blue Economy (open-for-all seminar)
Join for a guest lecture on the promises and pitfalls of the Blue Economy.

The concept of the Blue Economy has gained strong momentum in recent years - promoted by governments, investors, and research institutions as a pathway to development and growth.

Yet, while the discourse is often framed in positive terms, it also raises important questions about sustainability, equity, and justice.

In this seminar, Dr. C. Patrick Heidkamp (Southern Connecticut State University) examines the role of economic geography in the Blue Economy debate. Building on existing critiques, he argues for critical perspectives to ensure policies and practices balance growth with environmental sustainability and social equity.
