Frankenweek Events

18 October, 8:15-11:30 a.m., Aud. Elias Blix
Public Lecture: "Frankenstein and the Gothic Imagination". Dr. Jessica Allen Hanssen, English Department. Learn how Frankenstein fits into the Gothic tradition, how the book's unusual structure builds excitement and tension, and why the story of Frankenstein is still popular 200 years later.

22 - 31 October, Nord University Library, Bodø
Exhibition: "Frankenversions: 200 Years  of Adapting Frankenstein": Explore why Frankenstein endures through film, books, and interactive displays -  a rather "shocking" experience!

23 October, 6 p.m., Stormen Library, downtown Bodø
Film Screening: Frankenstein (1931) and a top-secret double feature. Introduction by Dr. Jamie Callison, Department of English. Co-hosted by Bodø Filmklubb. Free for Nord students, faculty, and staff.

October 31, all day, near Akademika bookstore
Frankenstein "read-a-thon": Over 80 Frankenreaders will build a creature, 10 minutes at a time. Come and listen to a Gothic classic on Halloween!

Don’t miss the other Frankenweek events, such as the Frankenstein-inspired menu
at Kantina on October 31, the horror book pop-up store at Akademika, the online
exhibition “Frankenstein and the Arctic,” and the student-run “horror house” event
on Halloween night!
