Financial support for international students affected by the Coronavirus pandemic

If you are an international student and meet the criteria below, you can now apply for a once-off payment from Nord University.

​​​​Payment amount​​

The student can apply for a once-off payment of maximum NOK 10,000.

Criteria for eligibility

  1. The student must be self-financed, have a valid study permit in Norway, and will renew his/her temporary study permit in Norway for the academic year 2020 - 2021 cf. Immigration Act (2008).
  2. The student must have active admission to a bachelor or master programme taught in English, in both 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, and be located at one of Nord's study locations.
  3. The student must have consulted his/her study adviser about alternative models for completing his/her education.
  4. The student is not eligible for any other financial support schemes. ​​
  5. A student may not receive support due to generally poor finances (unrelated to the Coronavirus pandemic) or failure to manage finances responsibly.

Documentation requirements

The following documentation must be attached to the application:

  • Current, residential address in Norway. The student must be living at ​the address, AND
  • Loss of income as a direct consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic. This may be a notification of mandatory unpaid leave or notice of termination of employment, from the employer, dated no earlier than March 12 2020, OR
  • Loss of income from personal business in Norway/home country, OR
  • Loss of carer benefit from the Norwegian Work and Labour Administration (NAV) AND
  • Confirmation that you do not receive any other income, welfare payments, or financial assistance from other support schemes AND
  • A plan for repayment of outstanding debt, and return to sustainable finances.

Students renting on the private market must include:

  • Rental agreement and receipts for rent paid prior to March 12 2020.
