7 FAQs about exams

When exam day arrives it is good to know that you are registered and what you should bring with you. And no, chocolate and your student ID are not the only things.

1. How do I know if I am registered for an exam?

If you completed semester registration in StudentWeb within the deadline in the academic calendar you should be registered for all ordinary exams in your educational plan this semester. If you are not sure, check StudentWeb and "Active courses". You are responsible for ensuring that you are registered for classes and assessment.

2. What do I do if I was sick or failed an exam last time and want to re-sit it now?

You will need to register manually for the same examination in Studentweb, under «Active courses», within the deadline in the academic calendar.

3. Where do I find the time and place for a written examination?

Go to Studentweb and «Active courses». Choose the course in which you are being assessed and click «Assessment».

4. What do I need to bring to the exam?

You need photo-ID, eg. bankcard with photo, driver's license or student ID (you may not use the student ID app to prove your identity), and writing materials. It is also a good idea to bring some snacks and something to drink.

5. Which examination aids can I bring to the exam?

An overview of permitted examination aids is provided in your course description and on the examination paper. If no other information is provided, you may bring a bilingual dictionary. If you are allowed to make any alterations to an examination aid this will be stated in the course description. Otherwise, you should ensure that the dictionary is free of notes/alterations. Remember to remove your mobile telephone from your place before the examination commences.

6. What do I do if I am sick and am unable to attend the exam?

If you are too sick to attend the examination, you must send a doctor's certificate to service@nord.no within 7 days of the date of the examination. The certificate should explain why your condition prevented you from attending on the day. Mark the email with your student number, study location and information about the examination (eg. school exam in course XXXXXX).

7. I am registered for an exam that I do not wish to take. What do I do?

You can withdraw from the examination using  Studentweb, under «Active courses», up 14 days prior to the date of the examination. If you withdraw within the given timeframe you will not be registered as having attempted the examination. If you wish to register for the examination in another semester, you must do this manually within the deadline given in the academic calendar.
