LEARNED THROUGH EXPERIENCE: Students engaged in both theoretical programs and field trips during the summer course «Sustainable Blue Growth in the High North» last summer. Now applications are open for the 2025 edition.
Students from all over the world came to Bodø last summer to take part in the course Sustainable Blue Growth in the High North. Over the course of one week, they explored what sustainability looks like in practice.
Karla Vuković, a student from Croatia, wasn’t sure the course would be relevant to her.
– I was skeptical because I don’t know anything about economy. But it turned out to be really good. I learned how to think outside the box!

Open to students from any field
The course focuses on sustainability and blue economy in the Arctic.
Students will meet companies working on ocean-based solutions, visit key sites, and work hands-on with scenario planning tools — all while earning 3 ECTS.
Last year the course had students with different academic backgrounds — from political science to engineering.
– Sustainability is important in every subject, said Jonas Felix Stolte from Germany.

Takes part in the beginning of July
The course is open to all students who are curious about sustainability and want to learn something new.
Its part of Nord University’s Summer School, and takes place in Bodø in the first week of July. It also includes an online session before and after the in-person week.
