The following information is relevant for applicants with education from India interested in English taught programmes at Nord University.
  • Application period:

    Non-EU/EEA/EFTA: November 1 - December 1
    EU/EEA/EFTA: February 1 - April 15

    Documentation deadline:

    Non-EU/EEA/EFTA: December 1
    EU/EEA/EFTA: April 15

    Excemption: For EU/EEA/EFTA applicants that finish secondary school or higher education this spring semester, the deadline for uploading educational documentation is July 1.

    Non-EU/EEA/EFTA applicants are applicants who do not have citizenship in a country in the EU/EEA/EFTA.

    EU/EEA/EFTA applicants are applicants with citizenship in a country in the EU/EEA/EFTA.

  • Please note: All applicants with education from India must meet the following admission requirements prior to applying. Nord University does not accept applications or documentation after the given deadlines. 

    Educational requirements

    One of the following:

    • All India Senior School Certificate (Standard 12) issued by CBSE + 1 year university education.
    • Indian School Certificate (ISC Standard 12) issued by CISCE + 1 year university education.
    • Higher Secondary Certificate issued by State Secondary School Board + 1 year university education.​
    • Pre-University Examination Certificate + 1 year university education.
    • Intermediate Examination Certificate + 1 year university education.​

    Your university education must be accredited as higher education in Norway. You can check your university at World Higher Education Database (Whed.net) and anabin.kmk.org

    Nord University can also consult the Norwegian Directorate of Higher Education and Skills.

    Document requirements

    • ​Officially issued transcripts and diplomas must be uploaded to the online application portal when you apply.
    • You must upload an official translation of documentation not provided in English, Swedish, Danish or Norwegian. Only translations carried out by a government authorized or otherwise accredited translator will be considered. You must also include a copy of the original document. 
    • In addition, official academic transcripts from institutions in India must be sent to us by post directly from the college/university in a sealed envelope. 
    • Documentation regarding English requirement.
    • Enclosure form (PDF)
    • Copy of your valid passport.
    • Documentation of name change (if applicable).
    • Proof of funding

    Special requirements for each programme

    In addition to the basic requirements listed above, each programme may have special requirements.

    Some special requirements for Bachelor in Biology can be met with the following qualifications from secondary education completed in India:

    • Mathematics R1 = Mathematics from AISSC/ISC/HSC, scientific line (science)
    • Physics 1 = Physics from AISSC/ISC/HSC

    You may also apply on the basis on science subject completed at higher education institutions. The admissions office will conduct an individual assessment of your academic qualifications, in order to determine whether you meet the special requirements.

    ​Special requirements for each programme

    In addition to the basic requirements listed above, each programme may have special requirements. 

  • All applicants can meet the English language requirements by completing one of the following tests/subjects:   

    • English course (140 hours per year) taken at a Norwegian upper secondary school. 
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 60 for an internet-based test (iBT / iBT Home Edition / iBT Paper Edition) or 500 for a paper-based test (PBT). Nord University's TOEFL code is 1648. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Academic / IELTS Academic Online test with a minimum score of 5.0. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • University of Cambridge: First Certificate in English , Certificate in Advanced English, Certificate of Proficiency in English. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • Pearson PTE Academic / Pearson PTE Academic Online test with a minimum score of 51 points. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • The European Language Certificate - telc: telc English B2, telc English B2-C1 University, All telc English certificates on C1 level​. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.

    You may also meet the language requirements if you:  

    • Are exempted according to the GSU-list.   
    • Have completed at least one year of studies at high school or in higher education in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand. The place of instruction must have been in one of these countries and the language of instruction must have been English. 
    • Have taken studies or completed a university degree in English language and literature, where you have passed courses in English with a minimum scope of 60 ECTS or equivalent.
    • Have completed a master's degree where the language of instruction was English. This must appear on your educational documents or you must have a confirmation from the institution.​

    Applicants from some countries can meet  the language requirements in other ways. Please check the  GSU-​list  for more information. 

  • All applicants can meet the English language requirements by completing one of the followi​ng tests/subjects:

    • ​​English course (140 hours per year) taken at Norwegian upper secondary school
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 90 (with no individual score less than 20) for an internet-based test (iBT/ iBT Home Edition/ iBT Paper Edition) or 580 for a paper-based test (PBT). Nord University's TOEFL code is 1648.​ We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Academic / IELTS Academic Online test with a minimum score of 6.5. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.
    • University of Cambridge:
      - First Certificate in English
      - Certificate in Advanced English
      - Certificate of Proficiency in English. We require that the test results are valid and verifiable online or that they are sent directly from the test centre.

    You may also meet the language requirement if you:

    • Are exempted according to the GSU​-list.​

  • Tuition fees

    Students with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA/EFTA must pay tuition fees. This does not apply to exchange students from partner universities, or to students from the EU/EEA/EFTA.​

    Nord University does not offer any grants or scholarships.   ​

    Sufficient funds

    In addition to tuition fees, applicants from countries outside EU/EEA/EFTA must provide proof of funding. Applicants must be able to sustain themselves while studying in Norway in order to obtain a study permit. 

    Upload proof of funds for living expenses when submitting your application. The required amount documents your financial ability, which is necessary for applying for a study permit. 

    Who must document financial ability?

    - International applicants (citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA/EFTA) who do not already have a residence permit in Norway, must document proof of financial ability.

    - Foreign applicants residing in Norway on work visa, Protection (Refugee Status), Permanent Residency or long-term Marriage/Family visa: please upload a copy of your Residence Permit as proof of financial ability.

    - Norwegian citizens: you are exempted from documenting proof of financial ability. Please upload a copy of your Norwegian passport as proof of citizenship

    The amount you must provide is currently NOK 151 690 for one academic year (subject to change).

    We only accept the following documentation:

    • An original bank statement in your name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official). The statement must have been issued within the last 3 months. 
    • A confirmation letter from your sponsor and an original bank statement in your sponsor's name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official). The confirmation letter and bank statement must have been issued within the last 3 months.  

    Payslips will not be accepted as proof of funding.

  • 1. Check the admission requirements

    Check the admission requirements for the study programme you want to apply for.

    2. Prepare your documents and the enclosure form

    • Enclosure form (PDF)
    • Educational documents (diplomas, transcripts, documentation regarding English requirement, translations)
    • Copy of your valid passport
    • Documentation of name change (if applicable​​)
    • Proof of funding

    Please check that all your documentation is considered valid documentation​

    3. Register your application in Søknadsweb

    Please use a valid postal address when registering (street, street number, postal code, postal area and country). 

    4. Submit all required documents

    Upload all required documentation to the online application portal under "My documents", prior to the documentation deadline. 

    Applications without required documentation or without proof of funding will be rejected.  

    Send your educational documents by post (if applicable) in addition to uploading the documents to your application. You can check if you need to send your documents by post in the admission requirements. 

    Documents sent by post must have a postmark, stating that the documents were sent prior to the deadline. Documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 

    It is your responsibility to upload the correct and valid documentation prior to the deadline. Please read the information regarding valid documentation.

    5. Receiving the results of your application

    You will receive an email when the results are published in the application portal, by the beginning of April. 

    If you are granted admission, you will be given a short deadline to respond. If you have not registered your response in the online application portal within the given deadline, the offer will be withdrawn. 

    The letter of admission will be published in the online application portal under "My documents", and is the only confirmation that will be sent to you. 

    If you receive a rejection, you can ask for a justification by sending an email to admission@nord.no.
