To be eligible for admission to courses and programmes taught in Norwegian, applicants with secondary education from countries outside of Norway have to meet general and specific admission requirements, and document proficiency in both English and Norwegian language.
To qualify for admission to courses and programmes taught in Norwegian, you must document proficiency in Nowegian language in accordance with the requirements established by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT).
Applicants can document Norwegian proficiency in any of the following ways:
- Norwegian, written and oral exam from third year level in Norwegian upper secondary school
- Norwegian Language test for adult immigrants from The Norwegian Directorate for higher education and skills (Komptanse Norge) with the result B2 or C1 in all the four disciplines
- Norwegian for International Students, Level 3 at the universities
- 1-year course in Norwegian Language (60 ECTS) at Norwegian universities or university colleges
- Test in Norwegian - advanced level (Test i norsk - høyere nivå) with a minimum score og "pass"(bestått) in both the written and the oral test
Folkeuniversitetet discontinued Test in Norwegian - higher level (also known as The Bergen test) in October 2022. You fulfil the requirement in Norwegian if you have passed the oral and the written tests previosly.
From 2023, the following combinations of tests will fulfil the requirement:- Pass in the written Test in Norwegian higher level + B2 or C1 in oral communication in The Norwegian Language test from the Directorate for higher education and skills, or
- Pass in the oral Test in Norwegian higher lever + B2 or C1 in the reading, listening and written parts in The Norwegian Language test from the Directorate for higher education and skills

All applicants must meet the general admission requirements set by the Higher education Entrance Qualification (country-specific) and document proficiency in English and Norwegian languages. Some programmes may have specific admission requirements in addition to the general admission requirements.You must document that you meet the admission requirements within the application deadlines.

Most master degree programmes taught in Norwegian are available through Nord University's online application portal Søknadsweb.
Most continuing and further education programmes are available through the application portal for continuing and further education.
