Abstract:

In the debate about possible pathways for realizing green transformation, the concept of circular economy has gained prominence among researchers, practitioners and politicians. The notion of urban mining represents one key strategy to closing material loops and realizing the vision of circular economy. The project aims - in collaboration with municipal and private actors in Namdalen, Salten and Lofoten - to study institutional frameworks, attitudes and management of mineral waste as a resource. The question we ask is what political, institutional and business barriers and opportunities exist in the reuse / recycling of metals and minerals.
