Abstract:

Nord University was established in 2016. After a demanding merger process, the academic environment has become larger and more complex, at the same time as the proportion of first-year graduates and professors is too low. The competence challenge at the institution has a clearly gendered aspect with an over-representation of women in teaching positions and a low proportion of women in top academic positions. In 2017, the proportion of women in professorships was 27.3%, but there is great variation between the faculties. The project will acquire relevant knowledge and develop targeted measures to meet some special competence and gender equality challenges that the university currently faces. Faculties and academic environments with special gender equality challenges will be prioritized in research, and it is a goal that the project will contribute to a personnel policy innovation and build a good structure for future gender equality work.
