Sapienza University of Rome, founded in 1303, is one of the oldest universities in the world. The main campus is a real city within the city, located in the heart of Rome. With 112 000 students, 11 faculties and 48 libraries Sapienza is one of the largest universities in Europe.

    Cost of living

    On average a student will need approximately 800 -1000 euros per month to live in Rome.

  • Admission requirements

    Students must have completed one year of university level studies, equivalent to 60 ECTS.

    Language requirements

    English B2, Good command of Italian is recommended, though not a prerequisite.

  • Exchange students with citizenship from EU/EEA/Switzerland do not need a visa to study in Italy. You will need a visa only if your stay for study purposes lasts over 90 days.

    Exchange students with non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship must complete a Declaration of Presence which is valid for stays up to 90 days.

    For stays longer than 90 days, students must apply for Residence Permit.
