The following information is relevant for applicants with education from Cameroon interested in English taught programmes at Nord University.

​​​​Programmes offered in English

Nord University offers the following programmes and courses in English for international students.

Application period

Non-EU/EEA: October 1 - December 1
EU/EEA: February​ 1 - April 15

Non-EU/EEA applicants are applicants who do not have citizenship or a permanent residence permit in a country in the EU/EEA. 

EU/EEA applicants are applicants with citizenship or a permanent residence permit in a country in the EU/EEA. 

Admission requirements for bachelor's programmes

Please note: All applicants with education from Cameroon must meet the following admission requirements prior to applying. Nord University do not accept applications or documentation after the given deadlines. 

Educational requirements

  • Cameroon English-speaking: Cameroon GCE Ordinary level AND Cameroon GCE Advanced Level with pass in at least 3 subjects. English and Mathematics must be passed at least at Ordinary Level. 
  • Cameroon French-speaking: Baccalaureat de l'Enseignement Secondaire (General or Technique) OR Brevet de Technicien l'Enseignement Secondaire. 
Document requirements

  • ​​Official academic transcripts and diplomas (from both secondary education and higher education) from institutions in Cameroon must be uploaded to the application portal. 
  • In addition to that, official academic transcripts and certified copies of your diplomas (from both secondary education and higher education) from institutions in Cameroon must be sent to us by post directly from the college/university in a sealed envelope.

Admission requirements for master's programmes

Please note: All applicants with education from Cameroon must meet the following admission requirements prior to applying. Nord University do not accept applications or documentation after the given deadlines.

  • ​Cameroon English-speaking: Cameroon GCE Ordinary Level AND Cameroon G​CE Advanced Level with pass in at least 3 subjects. English and Mathematics must be passed at least at Ordinary Level + 3 years ​university education
  • Cameroon French-speaking: Baccalaureat de l'Engseignement Secondaire (General or Technique) OR Brevet de Technicien l'Engseignement Secondaire + 3 years university education
You university education must be accredited as higher education in Norway. You can check your university at World Higher Education Database (Whed.net) and anabin.kmk.org


Document requirements

Language requirements for bachelor's programmes

Applicants from the English-speaking part of Cameroon are exempt from the English language requirement if they have passed English at Ordinary or Advanced level (secondary education) or if they have completed a bachelor's degree taught in English. 

All applicants can meet the English language requirement by completing one of the following tests/subjects:

  • English course (140 hours per year) taken at Norwegian upper secondary school.
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 500 on the written test OR 60 on the online test. Nord University's TOEFL code i 1648. 
  • IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 5.0. 
  • University of Cambridge First Certificate in English OR Certificate in Advanced English OR Certificate of Proficiency in English. 
You may also meet the language requirement if you:

  • Are exempted according to the GSU-list. 
  • Have completed at least one year studies at high school or in higher education in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand. The place of instruction must have been in one of these countries and the language of instruction must have been English. 
  • Completed a university degree in English language and literature, where the subject English has a scope of at least 60 ECTS or equivalent. 
  • Completed a master's degree where the language of instruction was English (this must appear on the educational documents or you must have a confirmation from the institution). 

Language requirement for master's programmes

Applicants from the English-speaking part of Cameroon are exempt from the English language requirement if they have passed English at Ordinary or Advanced level (secondary education) or if they have completed a bachelor's degree taught in English. 

​All applicants can meet the English language requirement by completing one of the following tests/subjects:

  • English course (140 hours per year) taken at Norwegian upper secondary school. 
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 580 on the written test OR 90 (with no individual score less than 20) on the online test. Nord University's TOEFL code is 1648. ​
  • IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.5
  • University of Cambridge First Certificate in English OR Certificate in Advanced English OR Certificate of Proficiency in English. 
You may also meet the language requirement if you:

  • Are exempt according to the GSU-list​
  • Have completed at least one year studies at high school or in higher education in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand. The place of instruction must have been in one of these countries and the language of instruction must have been English. 
  • Completed a university degree in English Language and literature, where the subject English has a scope of at least 60 ECTS or equivalent.

Financial ability

Nord University do not offer any grants or scholarships. 

In order to obtain a study permit, applicants outside EU/EEA will need to show the Norwegian Government that they have sufficient funds to live in Norway for one (1) year. You do not need to document this to Nord University when you apply for admission, but you need to be prepared to document sufficient funds if you get admission and apply for a study permit. 

The amount required for the study year 2022-2023 is NOK 126 357. This amount is subject to change.

Application process

1. Find out which programme you are interested in. 

​Check the programmes and courses offered in English and choose the programme you are interested in. 

2. Prepare your documents and the enclosure form

  • Enclosureform
  • Educational documents (diplomas, transcripts, documentation regarding English requirement, translations)
  • Copy of your valid passport
  • Documentation of name change (if applicable)
Please check that all your documentation is considered as valid documentation.

3. Register your application in Søknadsweb

Please use a valid postal address when registering (street, street number, postal code, postal area and country). 

4. Submit all required documents within the deadline

Upload all required documents to the online application portal under "my documents" prior to the documentation deadline. 

Applications with incomplete documentation or without documentation will not be assessed.

Send your educational documents by post (if applicable) in addition to uploading the documents to your application. You can check if you need to send your documents in the admission requirements. 

Documents sent by post must have a postmark stating that the documents were sent prior to the deadline. 

Documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 

It is your responsibility to upload the correct and valid documentation prior to the deadline. Please read the information regarding valid documentation. 

5. Receiving the results of your application

You will receive an email when the results are published in the application portal, by the beginning of April. 

If you are granted admission, you will be given a short deadline to respond. If you have not registered your response in the online application portal within the given deadline, the offer will be withdrawn. 

The letter of admission will be published in the online application portal under "my documents", and is the only confirmation that will be sent to you. 

If you receive a rejection, you can ask for a justification by sending an e-mail to admission@nord.no.

After admission
