Non-EU/EEA applicants are applicants who do not have citizenchip or a permanent residence permit in a country in the EU/EEA. 

EU/EEA applicants are applicants with citizenchip or a permanent residence permit in a country in the EU/EEA. 

​​Admission requirements for bachelor's programmes

Please note: All applicants with education from Nigeria must meet the following admission requirements prior to applying. Nord University do not accept applications or documentation after the given deadlines. 

Educational requirements
​One of the following:

  • ​Senior School Certificate (awarded either by the West African Examinations Council or the National Examination Council) in at least 6 subjects where English, Mathematics and one subject in Science (either Biology, Chemistry or Physics) must be passed + 1 year university education.
  • West African Senior School Certificate (awarded either by the West African Examinations Council or the National Examination Council) in at least 6 subjects where English, Mathematics and one subject in Science (either Biology, Chemistry or Physics) must be passed + 1 year university education.
  • West African Examinations Council, General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O Level) + 1 year university education. ​​
  • West African Examinations Council, General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O Level) + West African Examinations Council Higher, General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A Level) with 3 A Levels. ​
Your university education must be accredited as higher education in Norway. You can check your university ​​at World Higher Education Database (Whed.net) and anabin.kmk.org. 

Nord university can also consult the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT)

Document requirements

  • ​​​Scratch card​s/access cards from the West African Examination Council or National Examination Council must be uploaded to the online application. ​
  • Officially issued transcripts and diplomas must be uploaded to the online application portal when you apply.​
  • Official academic transcripts of higher education from institutions in Nigeria must be sent in a sealed envolope by post directly from the college/university.

Specific requirements for each programme​​

In addition to the basic requirements listed above, each programme may have special requirements. ​​​

Special requirements for bachelor in biology​ can be met with the following qualifications from your secondary education completed in Nigeria: 

  • ​​Mathematics R1 and Mathematics R2 = Mathematics on your General Certificate of Education, Advanced level. ​​
  • Physics 1 and 2 = Physics on your General Certificate of Education, Advanced level. 
  • Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2 = Chemistry on your General Certificate of Education, Advanced level. 
  • Biology 1 and Biology 2 = Biology on your General Certificate of Education, Advanced level. ​
​If your secondary education does not meet the special requirements, you may be able to apply on the basis on science subjects completed at higher education institutions. The admissions office will conduct an individual assessment of your academic qualifications, in order to determine whether you meet the special requirements.

Admission requirements for master's programmes

Language requirements for bachelor's programmes

If you meet the educational requirements listed in the "admission requirements for bachelor's programmes", you meet the English language requirement. 

Language requirements for master's programmes

If your meet the educational requirements listed in the "admission requirements for bachelor's programmes"​, you meet the English language requirement. 

Financial ability

Nord U​niversi​ty do not offer any grants or scholarschips. ​

In order to obtain a study permit, applicants outside the EU/EEA will need to show the Norwegian Government that they have sufficient funds to live in Norway for one (1) year. You do not need to document this to Nord University when you apply for admission, but you need to be prepared to documents sufficient funds if you get admission and apply for a study permit. 

The amount required for the study year 2022-2023 is NOK 126 357. This amoun​t is subject to change.

Application process

1. Find out which programme you are interested in

Check the programmes offered in English and choose the programme you are interested in. 

2. Prepare your documents and the enclosure form

  • Enclosureform
  • Educational documents (diplomas, transcripts, documentation regarding English requirement, translations)
  • Copy of your valid passport
  • Documentation of name change (if applicable​)
Please check that all your documentation is considered as valid documentation

3. Register your application in Søknadsweb


Please use a valid postal address when registering (street, street number, postal area and country). 

4. Submit all required documents within the deadline

Upload all required documents to the online application portal under "my documents" prior to the documentation deadline. 

Applications with incomplete documentation or without documentation will not be assessed. 

Send your educational documents by post (if applicable) in addition to uploading the documents to your application. You can check if you need to send your documents by post in the admission requirements. 

Documents sent by post must have a postmark stating that the documents was sent prior to the deadline. 

Documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 

It is your responsibility to upload the correct and valid documentation prior to the deadline. Please read the information regarding valid documentation

5.Receiving the results of your application

You will receive an email when the results are published in the application portal, by the beginning of April. 

If you are granted admission, you will be given a short deadline to respond. If you have not registered your response in the online application portal within the given deadline, the offer will be withdrawn. 

The letter of admission will be published in the o​nline application portal under "my documents", and is the only confirmation that will be sent to you. 

If you receive a rejection, you can ask for a justification​ by sending an e-mail to admission​@nord.no.​

After admission​

The autumn semester starts in mid-August.
