Admission requirements

Admission to the programme of study requires Higher Education Entrance Qualification.

Applicants who do not have Higher Education Entrance Qualification and are 25 years of age or older may apply for admission on the basis of prior learning and work experience.

Foreign applicants must fulfil the requirements for Norwegian General Study competence as well as language proficiency requirements in Norwegian and English language.

Relevant qualifications for this programme are work experience from administrative procedure, administration, management, organisational work, political work, board work and/or relevant courses.

Job opportunities

The study programme qualifies the candidate for positions in all types of administration and management. In particular, the programme is oriented towards the municipal sector, with an emphasis on the demands placed on public governance, written administrative procedures and case studies, local democratic issues, community and policy analysis, as well as innovative ways of working, such as process management.

Further education

The study programme qualifies the student for admission to the Master’s programmes in subjects within the social sciences at Nord University. The study programme satisfies the subject requirements for admission to the Master in Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen (UiB). The study programme will also provide admission to several other social science master's degrees both in Norway and internationally.

Study abroad

The fourth semester is adapted for student exchange. The Faculty has several exchange agreements that students on the programme of study can take advantage of. Relevant subject areas for student exchanges are social sciences, economics and legal courses.
