The industry demands practical skills and experience suited for problem solving through idea development and teamwork. In this course, the focus is on the development and realization of business ideas into profitable business concepts. During the course, groups consisting of 2-4 students prepare a business plan/business sketch in collaboration with an entrepreneur or a company. The course gives you valuable training through collaboration with idea owners and it gives you the opportunity to use and test what you have learned in other courses.
It is possible to apply for admission to the course as a single course. There are reservations about the available capacity on the course. The applicant must meet the current admission requirements for the Master of Science in Business.
Knowledge - the student
Possesses advanced knowledge within business development.
By preparing a business plan, the student has acquired in-depth and specialized knowledge of:
- business idea, objectives and vision
- business models, business plans and business concept
- use of analysis tools
- choose the appropriate procedure and document structure (lean startup, plan, model, etc.)
- customer needs, product requirements and product development
- organizational and company form
- How to build business relationships
- budgeting, capital requirements, financing and risk analysis
- preparation of action plans
- what makes a team work
- why and how people start new businesses and develop existing ones.
- about how business opportunities are discovered or created and the consequences of exploiting the business opportunities.
Skills - the student can independently
- Analyze business opportunities
- Critically assess various possibilities for further development of a business concept
- Advise entrepreneurs on developing business concepts
- Identify your own potential as an entrepreneur
- Structuring and formulating a business plan etc.in collaboration with an entrepreneur/company
- Present a business idea to relevant actors
- Reflect on the cooperation in a team and how your own and others' patterns of action and ways of being affect the cooperation
General competence - the student can:
- Apply relevant theoretical knowledge to a practical and real business case
- Obtain, structure, process and analyze large amounts of business information
- Discuss the establishment of new companies and entrepreneurial processes with academics and practitioners
- Apply relevant entrepreneurship literature to analyze practical business cases
- Carry out project work in a team
- Communicate independent work on the establishment of new companies and master the subject's forms of expression
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.

A combination of lectures and group work is provided. Compulsory attendance to work-shop and in group work, and some lectures
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.

Assignment - Business plan - group 2-4 students, counts 60/100 of the grade, grading rule Letter grades.
School examination, 4 hours, individual, all printed and written aids allowed - NOT internet access, counts 40/100 of the grade, grading rule Letter grades.
All support materials allowed - NO internet acess. Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer is considered cheating.
Students should appreciate participating in a process developing a business idea into a real business, and evaluating whether, and how, this should be realized. Students should also enjoy working in teams.
