The bachelor's thesis is an independent piece of work in which the student applies scientific method. The bachelor's thesis is written as a scientific report or investigation.
The bachelor's thesis is an independent piece of work in which the student applies scientific method. Each thesis should have a supervisor at the study location and may in some cases also have an external supervisor. The bachelor's thesis is written as a scientific report or investigation. The thesis should be provided with a title and an executive summary in English. The whole thesis may be written in English if the student so prefers. During the fourth semester (spring semester 2nd study year) information about potential assignments is provided. Project work is taught and students have to submit a pilot project for their own bachelor's thesis.

The subject is reserved for students of the following study programmes:

  • Livestock Science, Bachelor's Programme
Passed a minimum of 90 ECTS credits in the field of study prior to the start of the formal work with HUS2010.

After completing the course, the student will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

  • has knowledge of scientific work and the production of new knowledge
  • has knowledge about the connections between topic/issue, research question, methods, analysis and scientific writing

Skills:

  • can develop a project and formulate issues/ hypotheses
  • can apply scientific Method
  • can analyse an issue applying literature, theory and/or empirical data
  • can make a written scientific report

General competence:

  • has the ability to reflect critically
  • has the ability to read and understand professional scientific literature
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal. Note that Nord University does not cover any expenses associated with the bachelor's thesis.
Elective
The bachelor thesis is formeost course where the students working independently supervised by an appointed teacher/lecturer. The framework for the assignment and relevant themes will be introduced in the 5th semester, but the thesis itself is produced during the 6th semester. Teaching activities will consist of lectures with exercises. The bachelor`s thesis is written in student pairs. In the beginning of the semester, the student paris present their planned project as a scienticic poster.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.

Composite assessment

Work requirements: Production and presentation of scientific records, approved/not approved. Must be approved before preparation for a bachelor's thesis.

Bachelor thesis: Grade A-F (100/100 of grade)
