Development of Speed and Endurance

IDR1012

Students will acquire knowledge about the concepts of speed and endurance in various sports and contexts, how training in these characteristics can be carried out, and how to ensure that training works as planned for the athletes involved. The concepts are key in many sports and for athletes at different levels and with different prerequisites. Knowledge of this training also plays an important role in a number of environments outside of organised sports. Students will receive a practical introduction in relation to how training in these characteristics can be carried out. This introduction will be differentiated in relation to the type of athletes to be trained, and the level and age the training is aimed at.

The course includes studying the theory of these forms of training, and great emphasis will be placed on practical activities. Students will discuss how this training can be designed in terms of gender, age and level, and these discussions will particularly focus on this type of training for young athletes and the elderly.
