A theoretical subject for understanding people at different ages, under different social conditions and in different situations. The subject deals with theory of psychological development, learning, sociology, communication and various methods and tools that are important for the nurse's professional practice
This theoretical subject will provide a basis for understanding people at different ages, under different social conditions and in different situations. The subject deals with theory of psychological development, learning, sociology, communication and various methods and tools that are important for the nurse's professional practice. Description: The subject includes "the citizen in the society". Various professional approaches will be used to understand the human being as an individual in his or her social context. The subject will prepare the student to understand the individual and groups of individuals in a healthcare context; both in the prevention of disease, in treatment and care, or in the case of disabilities of various kinds. In the subject, the student is introduced to knowledge in the areas: • Interpersonal communication as both a constructive and a specific topic • The nurse's pedagogical function • Psychology • Sociology

KNOWLEDGE: • Has knowledge of basic concepts and phenomena in psychology. • Has knowledge of basic concepts and phenomena in sociology.• Has knowledge of pedagogical theories and methods. • Has knowledge of basic communication and digital communication • Has knowledge of various person-centered approaches to support the patient's own decisions. • Has knowledge of conflict solving approaches. SKILLS: · • Applies social science theory, methods and tools in planning, practicing and evaluating nursing to patients of all ages • Applies theory of guidance and counseling in the use of digital tools for learning, mastering and change.

GENERAL COMPETENCES: • Understands the importance of, and safeguards respect, contribution and integrity in meeting the individual patient, the relatives or next of kin and other partners. • Understands the importance of collaboration and interaction with patients, relatives, colleagues and other partners

Obligatoric, theoretical subject
The subject will include a variety of teaching methods: lectures on campus, joint online lectures as well as various types of group work and seminars.
The subject is evaluated annually by the students through surveys. Evaluation is part of Nord University's quality assurance system.
