Adapted education is a basic principle throughout the students’ education. Teachers and managers in schools are therefore obliged to work to adapt the training to secure the well-being and learning outcome for children, students and apprentices. 
Master in Adapted Education, comprising 120 ECTS credits over two years, is offered in Bodø and Levanger and is designed for kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers, vocational teachers and special needs teachers who aim at a master's degree.

Through the master's program you can choose a specialization in special needs education, general didactics or vocational subject didactics. The program is theory, action and method oriented and has a clear academic and research foundation. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates are awarded a master’s degree in adapted education with specialization in one of the above mentioned fields.

Admission requires holding a teacher, special subject-teacher or pre-school teacher education on bachelor's level or the equivalent. If the teacher education programme comprises four years of full-time study, the student may be accepted to this master's programme upon completion of their third year of study. The grade average must be C or better.

Other foundations for admission may be relevant and will be considered on an individual basis.

For the specializations (mastermodules) the entry requirements are as follows:

General Didactics: Teacher training and/including 60 ECTS of pedagogics with a grade of C or higher.

Occupational Didactics: A completed 3-year occupational or professional training (bachelor, cand.mag.,or the equivalent).At least 80 pedagogical study-points (60 ECTS credits+ 20 ECTS credits for a pedagogically-related subject), undertaken during the above or as an addition, with a grade of C or higher.

Inclusive Education: Teacher training and/including 60 ECTS credits in special needs pedagogics with a grade of C or higher.

Further education

This master programme qualifies candidates to apply for admission to doctoral (PhD) programmes, provided their grade average meets the requirements of such programmes.
