Om prosjektet
BioAlgae explores bioactive polyphenolic compounds from brown macroalgae, investigating their potential to improve gut health and mitigate postweaning diarrhea (PWD) in pigs. This research addresses urgent needs arising from the EU ban on antibiotics and zinc oxide in animal feed. Conducted at Nord University in collaboration with KU Leuven, the project assesses how these compounds influence gut microbiota, inflammation, and overall pig health, promoting sustainable livestock practices.
