En kort beskrivelse av prosjektet
The study aims to fill a knowledge gap in the specialist health care with the purpose to identify essential intensive care nurses' competencies in optimizing patients' participation in early rehabilitation during long term stays in intensive care units (ICUs); and identify enablers and barriers in this practice as well as how it is experienced from patients' perspectives. This new knowledge has the prospects to 1) develop the health services for individuals with long term stays in ICUs to optimize their wellbeing, 2) develop a new integrated nursing intervention to promote recovery of body functions and structures, activities and participation for these patients, and 3) support the training at the Masters' Program in Intensive Care Nursing at Nord University specifically, and nationally in general.
The data material consists of non-participating observation, video recordings and in-depth interviews from three intensive care units.
