How to get to Nesna

Nesna is located by Kystriksveien – the coastal route – roughly 65 km west of Mo i Rana. Nesna has an hourly ferry connection south to Levang; 57 km from Mosjøen and 32 km from Sandnessjøen.

All three towns have an airport served by Widerøe. The Coastal Steamer calls on Nesna twice daily, and there is a daily express boat connection to Bodø and Sandnessjøen.

There are several ways to travel here, the main cities you have to connect by plane, train or boat is Trondheim (south of Nesna) or Bodø (North of Nesna). The smaller cities closer to Nesna is either Mo I Rana (train, plane) or Sandnessjøen (plane). If you come by boat, you can go directly to Nesna Harbour (Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage from Trondheim or Bodø or the High speed boat from Bodø).

By plane

If you fly in to Oslo or Trondheim, Norway, you have several choices:

  1. Flight from Oslo to Trondheim or Bodø, then come by train or fly with Wideroe to Mo I Rana. There are buses from Mo I Rana to Nesna (one-hour drive). If we know when you are coming, we will also try to coordinate and pick you up by car.
  2. Flight to Trondheim (also international) and continue flying with Wideroe to Mo I Rana. Small bus from the airport to Mo I Rana city. Either bus or private car from Mo I Rana to Nesna.
  3. Train from Oslo to Trondheim and then Mo I Rana. Alternatively, fly in to Bodø and take the train from there to Mo I Rana.
  4. Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage from either Trondheim or Bodø. Both trips will be overnight, but is a beautiful experience of the coastline even in November.
  5. If you come by boat you come directly to Nesna, all other flights and connections can be from Røssvoll Mo I Rana airport or Sandnessjøen Stokka Airport. If you fly in to Sandnessjøen we need to pick you up since there is a 30 minute drive and a ferry trip to come to Nesna.

The Coastal Voyage arrives two times a day in Nesna: https://www.hurtigruten.no/havner/nesna/
From Trondheim 12.00 daytime arrives in Nesna 05.25 am
From Bodø 02.30 am arrives in Nesna 11.00 am.

Accomodations – we recommend that you stay in Nesna during the conference since there will be some travelling time added if you chose to stay in Mo I Rana or Sandnessjøen.
