Elin Angelo (PhD) is professor 2 in music education at Nord University, and professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Teacher Education (ILU) and Department of Music (IMU). She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on music and arts education, and research courses in philosophy of science and methodology. She leads from 2022-2024 the DiKU-funded project 'Universitetskulturskole' (NTNU, IMU), the research network Music Pedagogy and Development (MiU [ILU, IMU, Nord, DMMH]), participates in the research project Outcomes of Instrumental Tuition and Playing in an Ensemble - Teaching Music in Cooperation Between Primary and Music Schools (OutMus, Nord, 2021-2024) and is the main editor of the scholarly writing series MusPed:research (2019-). She has previously led the Nordic Network for Music and Art School Research (2013-2017), and the research project IRISforsk [kulturskole-related research] (2014-2017, Dextra Musica), and participated in the international research project Discourses of Academization and the Music Profession in Higher Music Education (DAPHME, RJB, 2016-2020). Her work has been published in Action, Criticism and Theory for Music Education, International Journal for Community Music, Nordic Research in Music Education Yearbook, The Nordic Journal of Cultural Policy, Acta Didactica Norge, MusPed:Research, European Journal of Philosophy in Arts Education (EJPAE) and in the Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education (JASEd). Prior to her university teaching, Angelo taught in the music and art school, in community music, kindergarten, compulsory school and upper secondary school, and has been employed as a musician in military bands, symphonic orchestra and in freelance projects. She holds degrees from the Norwegian Academy of Music, the Arctic University of Norway and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
