I am a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Ecuation and Arts. The topic of my research project is the new subject curriculum in Sami second language education. The new curriculum requires that Sami language education be delivered through strong forms of bilingual education, which entail new ways of organizing Sami language education. In short terms it requires schools to restructure their approach to Sámi language education, such that students regularly hear, see, and use Sámi beyond the confines of traditional language lessons. The aim of my project is to investigate how teachers and school leaders understand and interpret the term strong form of bilingual education and how such models can work in practice.

I was previously in charge of the Lule Sámi section for the Lule Sámi Teacher Education Program at Nord.
