Mitt forskningsfokus er konsekvenser av arealbruk for biologisk mangfold og økosystemfunksjoner. Jeg er økolog med erfaring fra skoger både i tropiske, tempererte og boreale biomer, samt lyngheier og agroøkosystemer. Mine hovedtema er plantesamfunnets økologi og landskapsøkologi, og jeg har også glede av å delta på noen interessante sideprosjekter innen økologien til insekter og beitedyr. Akkurat nå er mitt hovedprosjektet knyttet til beitedyr og økologisk funksjon i Nordhordland biosfærereservat, som er en del av to større prosjekter som omhandler bærekraftig arealforvaltning (https://www.uib.no/en/rg/EECRG/120534/tradmod og https://www.uib.no/en/unesco-chair/122270/nordhordland-unesco-biosphere).
