Business Economics

ECO1014
The course provides an introduction to key business management concepts, models and contexts. In the course, business economics theory will be applied to agricultural issues.

The subject is reserved for students of the following study programmes:

  • Animal Sciences - Welfare and Production, Bachelor’s Programme
  • Livestock Sciences, Bachelor’s Programme

Other students can get admitted if there are places available. Contact student advisor. 

Students must meet current requirements for the associated study program.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student:

Knowledge

  • will have knowledge and understanding of basic business economics concepts and contexts
  • Will have knowledge of key theories and methods within the business economics subject area

Skills

  • can use various tools, techniques and methods to carry out simple business economics analyzes
  • can apply professional knowledge in general business economics to agricultural economics issues
  • can reflect on the connection between business-optimal solutions and animal husbandry based on good animal welfare

General competence

  • has insight into the importance of business economics for the agricultural company, and can discuss the basic features of financial management of an agricultural enterprise
  • can convey key subject matter through relevant forms of expression
  • can exchange views on and participate in professional discussions on agricultural economic topics
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course litterature apply.
Compulsory
Lectures, and exercises individually and in groups. Both Excel and calculators are used in the exercises.
Evaluated annually by students through course surveys. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.

Compound assessment, grading scale A-F

Compulsory work, approved/ not approved. Must be passed prior to submission of the written examination.

Written examination, 4 hours, comprises 100% of the grade, grading scale A to F.

Pen, ruler, up to 2 bilingual dictionaries and calculator.

Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer is considered cheating.
