The aim of this course is to provide students advanced knowledge, skills and competencies they can use to make data driven decisions for organisations. The main focus is on developing the students ability to use data that are available either within the organisation or in its surroundings to conduct analyses that can be used to make better decisions.

It is possible to apply for admission to the course as a single course. There are reservations about the available capacity on the course. The applicant must meet the current admission requirements for the Master of Science in Business program.

General competence

The candidate…

  • can analyse relevant business problems and use these analyses as a foundation for decision-making.
  • can communicate the results of his or hers own analysis, as well as discuss strengths and weaknesses related to these analyses.
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
This course will be taught face to face. The lectures will use cases and real world data where the students will be actively involved. The activities during the lectures will be based on the assumption that students have prepared for the lecture by for example reading the syllabus for the lecture. Throughout the course, students will work in groups to solve business cases through applying relevant tools and techniques.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.

The course grade will be set on the basis of two evaluations:

Assignment - group, counts 40/100 of the grade

Written exam, 4 hours, counts 60/100 of the grade
