Project Development and Design

MET5007
The course will provide an in-depth theoretical and practical introduction to project development and research design. The purpose of the course is for students to prepare a project description for their own master’s thesis. The course provides knowledge about the structure of a project description.

Knowledge:

  • Has in-depth knowledge about the development and planning of a delimited research project (master’s thesis).
  • Has advanced knowledge about acquiring a status of knowledge within a delimited topic.
  • Has in-depth knowledge about the development of research questions and choice of design.
  • Has in-depth knowledge about research ethics and the importance of user involvement in research.

Skills:

  • Can analyse applicable knowledge within a delimited area and critically assess the status of knowledge, as well as formulate a research question
  • Can plan an independent, delimited research or development project and prepare a project description that includes reasons for choice

General competence:

  • Can prepare project outlines within the field of health sciences in order to contribute to innovation and development work
  • Can communicate and interact with different groups to develop projects and professional development
No fees other than semester fees and course literature.
Compulsory course
Lectures, self-study, seminars with opposition. Some of the teaching may be conducted digitally. Students are offered up to 2 hours of individual supervision.
The course is evaluated annually by the students through course surveys. These evaluations are part of the University’s quality assurance system.

Coursework (AK): Presentation/opposition of preliminary project outline. Coursework must be approved before the final course grade can be given.

Examination: Individual written assignment: project description of master’s thesis Grading:

Pass/fail.

Examination committee with an internal and external examiner.
