Learning outcomes
Knowledge
- Has advanced knowledge and understanding of how to provide good relationships, good communication and interactions with the patient, relatives and their families, in early and late stages in palliative care and caring, from a physical, mental, social and spiritual / existential perspective
- Has advanced knowledge and understanding of the importance of teamwork to facilitate good palliative care and caring for patients and their relatives from a person-centered perspective
- Has advanced knowledge and understanding of the need for relief of symptoms for the individual patient in the palliative phase and at the end of life, especially in heart disease, kidney disease, non-malignant lung disease, neurological diseases (ALS, MS), disease in children and dementia
- Has advanced knowledge and understanding of how each individual healthcare professional can take care of the patient's relatives
- Has advanced knowledge of a holistic reflection model for palliative care
Skills
- Can use good relationships, good communication and interactions with patients and their relatives, in the early and late stages of palliative care from a physical, mental, social and spiritual / existential perspective
- Can use and facilitate symptom relief for each individual patient during the palliative course and at the end of life, especially in heart disease, kidney disease, non-malignant lung disease, neurological diseases (ALS, MS), childhood disease and dementia

- Can locate current academic and research literature
General competences
- Can analyse various relevant professional and ethical issues in palliative care and caring
- Can plan and carry out group assignments in accordance with ethical requirements, academic method requirements and requirements for academic writing
No tuition fees. Costs for semester registration and course literature apply.
Students are expected to possess a PC with headset and microphone and cover their own expenses for this.
The work requires that the student attends the meetings.
New form of assessment means that there are three mandatory work requirements, of which the third is an individual submission.
All parts described below must be approved/passed in order to receive a final grade in the course.
