Programme description

The one year programme in International Relations at Nord university is a study programme in International Relations and International Politics enabling students to improve their competence in several areas, for instance in Globalization, Security, Terrorism and International Conflicts, and political ideologies.

Career opportunities

The International Relations offers work opportunities in the public and private sector.

The one year program is particularly of interest as part of lifelong learning or advanced education within the police or defence sector. The courses can also be of interest for people in the humanitarian sector and the media.

Applicants must fulfil the requirements for Norwegian General Study competence as well as language proficiency requirements in Norwegian and English language.

One-year-programs does not have possibilities for student exchange
The study programme can be used as one year in the bachelor in International relations. The one-year-program can also be used as a part of a bachelordegree

Students should on successful completion of the programme be able to:

Knowledge

  • Have an in-dept understanding and knowledge in several fields of International Relations
  • Be able to demonstrate and have skills in both empirical and theoretical knowledge about relationships between states on the international arena

Skills

  • Be able to discuss the various implications of foreign policy decisions
  • Explain different implications of foreign policy
  • Explain how power is evident in international politics
  • Knowledge about political idelogies and regimes in various parts of the world

General competence

  • Competence within international relations with a political science perspective
