Debasree Purkayastha
Debasree is currently a Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) Post-doc at Nord University working on insects, biopolymers and circular economy. She have completed her doctoral study in Waste segregation and treatment using Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India in 2021. She have been awarded Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR) for Best Popular science Stories (in PhD category) in 2019 by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. She have earned a Masters in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology Agartala, India. She have around 7 years of experience working with myriad facets of Black Soldier Fly larvae and its application in environmental engineering. She have worked in Environmental Engineering industry after completing her doctorate as an R&D expert exploring several facets of sanitation, water pollution and wastewater treatment. She has also briefly conducted research on membrane aerated biofilm reactor based advanced wastewater treatment at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. She was awarded the Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) Post-doctoral fellowship 2022 by European commission and joined Nord University at Steinkjer campus in November, 2023. Debasree draws her motivation from nature to work towards combating pollution and achieving Sustainable Development Goals. She is always open to new collaboration and exploring new areas of research in sustainability, circular economy and environmental engineering at large.
