Dr. Saeed Karimi-Aghdam is an Associate Professor of English Language and Didactics at the Faculty of Education and Arts, Levanger Campus, Nord University. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics, specializing in Second Language Acquisition, from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Dr. Karimi-Aghdam's academic expertise encompasses a broad range of fields, including applied linguistics, second language acquisition, educational psychology, and TESOL.

Dr. Karimi-Aghdam’s research interests are deeply influenced by Vygotsky’s cultural-historical psychology and systems thinking, with a particular emphasis on how sociocultural factors influence second language development and praxis. He has published his research in journals such as Human Development, Applied Linguistics, Language & Sociocultural Theory, and Written Communication.

In addition to his research, Dr. Karimi-Aghdam serves on the editorial boards of Language and Sociocultural Theory (University of Toronto Press) and the Journal of Applied Linguistics and Applied Literature: Dynamics and Advances (Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University Press). He is actively engaged in international collaborations and frequently interacts with scholars from diverse disciplines, promoting academic dialogue across various theoretical and methodological perspectives. Dr. Karimi-Aghdam has taught at universities in Iran, Finland, and Norway, with experience working with diverse student populations at both the university and pre-university levels. His qualifications also include professional teacher certification in Norway, Finland, and the UK. Over the years, he has been invited as a visiting researcher at prominent institutions, including University of California, San Diego, The Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Southern Denmark, among others.

Dr. Karimi-Aghdam is committed to exploring how second language development and praxis can be better understood and taught in real-world and dynamic settings, and he continues to seek novel and interdisciplinary ways to integrate theory and practice in his field.
