Thor Owe Holmquist
I am a Assistent Professor in traffic studies and teach at the traffic teacher education program, both at the basic level and in continuing and further education. I hold a master’s degree from NTNU, Science and Technology Studies (STS) knowledge, technology, and society.
My master’s thesis, titled “Driving Norwegian” (2019), explores driving culture and social adaptation. I have a professional background as a driving instructor since 1997 and served as head of education at a traffic school. Since 2014, I have been part of the traffic teacher education at HiNT, now Nord University.
My teaching focuses on student-active learning, sustainability, and real-world relevance. I work across disciplines, with particular emphasis on migration, traffic education, and civic orientation. Through the use of reflection, problem-based learning, and collaboration with external partners, I aim to prepare students to act responsibly and contribute meaningfully to society.
My research explores the intersection between education, migration, and sustainability. I am particularly interested in practice-oriented teaching, civic education, and how student-led learning can foster inclusion and societal engagement. I collaborate with local communities, schools, and public agencies to ensure relevance and impact.
