Nord's institutional series

Nord University publishes two institutional series: Research reports and working papers.

The internal series provides staff members with the opportunity to publish their research works of academic merit.

Research reports and working papers are administered by the University Library and made available in the University’s open institutional repository, Nord Open Research Archive.

Research reports are usually outcomes of contract research, while working papers are used for preliminary reporting during a project.

  • When submitting a manuscript to the University Library, authors must enclose a signed Dean’s approval (docx) as well as a signed publishing contract.

The author presents the manuscript for approval by the Dean, in accordance with the decision of the Research Board. The Dean appoints an internal quality assurer who is not co-author of the manuscript, and the Dean signs the report before submission to the University Library.

The author signs a publishing contract (PDF) with Nord University, and the contract establishes that the author is the originator of the work. The originator is responsible for obtaining the permission of any co-authors and collaborators to publish the work in the institutional repository.

The manuscript shall be submitted to the University Library according to the following specifications:

    • As a PDF attachment to an e-mail
    • Indication of the title of the manuscript and name of the author(s)
    • The author numbers the first page of the manuscript as page 3, while the Dean’s approval is not to be numbered
    • The manuscript must be proofread
    • All copyright issues concerning use of illustrations and other materials not produced by the author must be resolved and documentation for these must be included with the manuscript
    • The assignment of ISBN and publication number
    • Combining the frontpage, Dean’s approval and manuscript according to the University Library’s template
    • Sending the complete publication to the author for a final proofreading
    • Publishing the final version in Nord’s institutional repository
    • Electronic legal deposit to the National Library of Norway

Printing of paper copies of the publication may entail costs. If the author wishes to get printed copies, they have to contact the Faculty/the university print shop.
