Research Group in Social Work

The research group in social work explores issues within the subject of social work understood both as an academic discipline and practical professional practice.

The research group mainly consists of researchers affiliated with the subject group for Welfare and social relations, including PhD fellows in sociology. The group also has members from the Center for practical knowledge (FLU) and PhD in professional science. The main purpose of the group is to initiate, carry out and disseminate research that contributes to the development of social work as a subject, where connections and tensions between the subject's theory/value base, framework conditions and professional practices are central.

Research and development work:

  • includes a wide range of themes linked to social challenges such as social inequality, outsiders, poverty, vulnerable children and young people and other vulnerable groups, mental illness, drug problems, etc. is geared towards studies of measures and services that will prevent and solve social problems, as well as training and professional practice in social work
  • has a local, national and global focus
