Master's Thesis in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The topic may be chosen within the broad concept of business studies. Either a theoretical or an empirical perspective can be chosen. Students choose their own topics freely, provided that these topics fall within Bodø Graduate School of Business' field of professional competence. The topic must also be approved by the allocated supervisor. For further information see the "Masters Thesis Guide" available on Classfronter.

The entire main profile must be completed before the student can start the master's thesis.

The course is only open to students on the study programme Master of Science in Business.

The first three semesters of the two year Master of Science in Business programme must have been completed.

On successful completion of the thesis, students should be able to:

  • define and clarify a relevant research question
  • describe and explain the relevant theory that puts the problem into a scientific context
  • select appropriate methods
  • carry out systematic analysis and draw plausible conclusions.

An important part of the learning process is to derive practical implications based on the findings of the thesis.

In addition, the thesis demonstrates that the student is able to outline some issues for further research. This means that the thesis in addition to showing that students master the scientific working methods are also able to make their own contributions in a larger scientific context. The choice of topic must be discussed and approved by the supervisor.

Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory for students with this course as specialisation from the 3rd semester.

Individual student work and supervision.

The thesis is normally written in the spring semester, but due to the composition of different courses it may be appropriate for some students to work more systematically with the task in the autumn. Students writing their theses in the spring semester should use the autumn semester to work out research questions and elaborate relevant theory. Each student will be assigned a supervisor.

The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.
